Though life and business operate in forward motion, a large percentage of our experience for both, is hindsight…Marlowe Whitlow is the embodiment of the aforementioned values, in literary form, in Half the Man I Was.  This book explores the oxymoronic-life of a renaissance man, who engages upon a journey to lose half of his physical stature. Yet, in the midst of losing weight, he discovered more of himself, than he ever imagined existed.

Inspirational book. Good narrative describing Mr. Whitlow’s journey from being overweight by almost 500 lbs to cutting his weight in half. The book will be helpful to those interested in the different measures he undertook to achieve his weight loss and should be inspiring for those in good health but seeking something positive to read.

I truly enjoyed ‘Half the Man I Was’ and would put it at the top of my go-to books for an uplifted perspective. This book is an autobiography with a purpose. The first part delves into who Marlowe was in full: dangerously overweight, living fast, and knowing there was a better way but not ready to do the hard work for it. Then he changed. He doesn’t pretend this was easy. He doesn’t mislead others to think it will be easy for them either.

He has a clear perspective, and is very revealing about everything he had to go through to drop not just weight, but baggage. He refrains from being didactic or overly preachy, and just lets his story speak for itself. This book is exciting, funny and informative. It’s a great weekend or travelling read.
